As visitors are aware, there is still an alarming poverty level amongst a large group of the South African Population. Laura and Piet are actively involved in the upliftment of the needy and poor in their region.

A provincial school (government school) is situated on their Buffelsdrift farm. This school has 170 pupils from their own and surrounding farms. Most of the parents are unemployed and very poor.

Piet and Laura have committed themselves to help upgrade the facilities at this school and assist the school i.e. the teachers and pupils with extended educational facilities, equipment and opportunities

Should visitors be interested, we will introduce them to some of these projects. With the support of project sponsors we envisage to enhance the educational progress of these and other needy children in our area dramatically.

The upliftment projects involve no administration costs whatsoever, as Laura and Piet does this on a totally voluntary basis.

The projects are aimed at obtaining financial support and making these funds available for specific projects, such as:

  1. The establishment, i.e. building, and equipping of a computer centre, including internet facilities
  2. The acquisition and provision of books and learning materials
  3. The establishment of a proper library and reading room
  4. The possible establishment of after school study facilities
  5. Assistance to teachers and pupils with obtaining en maintaining some sport facilities and equipment
  6. The provision of clothing to poor children and
  7. The establishment of shower facilities at the school.

We would gladly introduce interested tourists and visitors to some of these deserving projects.
